Duo X2 Flashing Guide




The Duo X2 Lite modchips normally come flashed with Evox M8 Plus V1.6 bios which is designed for V1.6 xbox's only. You should flash it with a compatible bios once you get it booting as long term use on a xbox earlier than V1.6 can be harmfull. So if you don't have a V1.6 then download the Spiderchip Reflash Cd from xbins and unrar it and burn the iso onto a cdrw or dvd-r using Nero Burning Rom. Burn onto CDRW 4X or DVD-R 1x speed. choose finalize , disc at once and no multisession. Do not use CDR's as the xbox can't read them. The Spiderchip Reflash Cd is compatible with the Duo X2 Lite.






The Blue Duo X2 chips modchips come flashed with X2 4981 on bank 0 and Evox M8 V16 on bank 1. Simply set the switch to the bank that suits your xbox.

V1.0 to V1.5 on bank 0 (switch to left side)




V1.6 & V1.6b on bank 1 (switch to right side)











The White Duo X2 chips come flashed with 2 linux bioses. You will need to Flash the BIOS using either Flashbios or cromwell before you can use your chip. Try Flashbios first but if the flashbios screen doesn't appear then try Cromwell.

Cromwell on bank 0 (switch to left side)





Flashbios on bank 1 (switch to right side)





FLASHBIOS
To flash your chip using this bios you only need a bios disc. Flick the switch to the right. You will need to download the bios from xbins and then rename it to bios.bin

XBox V1.0 - V1.5 Use X2 4981.06 bios (512k).

XBox V1.6 - V1.6b Use Evox M8 Plus V16 (512k).



Resize the BIOS using EVTOOL for Evox M8 Plus V16 or XBTOOL for X2 4981.06. Simply open the BIOS and then click on 512k and save it.

Check this guide on how to burn the bios disc. Do not use the X3 bios !

If your controller doesn't work in FLASHBIOS then remove any memory cards and leave only one genuine Micro$oft controller plugged into port 1. If it still doesn't work use the Micro$oft DVD remote control and dongle (grab a mates if you don't have one as you won't need it for long). If your still having trouble make sure you are using the standard AV cable.

If you are unable to get your xbox to read your BIOS disc then try burning on to different brands of cdrw's and dvd-r's. If it just freezes on any brand and never flashes then grab a mates xbox , take their dvd-rom drive out and put it into yours and then try flashing. replace the dvd-roms after it has flashed successfully.



CROMWELL
To flash your chip using this bios you will need the bios disc you made earlier and the Eurasia Generic Pro Flash Disc 1.2. Download eurasia and burn the iso onto a cdrw or dvd-r using Nero Burning Rom. Burn onto CDRW 4X or DVD-R 1x speed. choose finalize , disc at once and no multisession. Do not use CDR's as the xbox can't read them.

Flick the switch to the left.

Insert the Eurasia Pro Generic Flash Disc 1.2 at the cromwell screen. The BIOS disc is inserted once the dvd-rom drive opens automatically. The flash process is automatic.
