Spiderchip Install Guide
This guide will help you install a Spiderchip modchip using the suplied pin header. You will need Torx 10 & 20 screw drivers, A soldering iron and solder and some electrical tape. Use Kynar coated wire wrap as this is the best wire for modchips. Torx 15 is needed for a hard drive upgrade and some solder wick maybe needed for mistakes or to clear the LPC holes in early models.
Soldering Tips
Use 60/40 rosin core solder of fine gauge.
Clean and tin the iron before soldering each connection.
Heat the joint and apply the solder to the joint, not to the soldering iron tip.
Each soldered point should be shinny and clean, not dull or cracked.
Lift up the sticky pads in the 4 corners. Now locate the 6 screws and using a Torx 20 screwdriver remove them. You will also find 2 screws underneath the stickers. Now remove the top cover to reveal the Hard Drive and DVD Rom unit.

Now using a Torx 10 screwdriver, locate the 3 screws that bolt the DVD Rom and Hard Drive to the chassis and remove them.

Unplug the cables from the Hard Drive and DVD Rom and then remove the Hard Drive and DVD Rom from the xbox.

Unplug all the connectors from the motherboard. Use a Torx 10 screwdriver to remove all 11 screws and remove the motherboard.
Now it's time to find out what xbox version you have by clicking Here
There are 2 versions of the spiderchip. You can see the difference in this picture to see which one you have.

This picture labels all the legs.

Cut off all the wires from your spiderchip as they are useless anyway.
Spiderchip 1.0 users Solder a wire to the point where the D wire used to be.
Spiderchip 1.1 users Solder a wire to the point where the E wire used to be.
If your LPC holes are filled with solder you will have to desolder the holes first using solder wick. Put your pinheader in the LPC holes and remove one pin if needed. Use some sticky tape to keep it in place and flip the motherboard over so it looks like this.

Now you need to solder the pins , just put your iron tip on the legs as close to the board as possible and feed in some solder. Pull away the solder and then the iron. Your soldered joints should looks shiny like these ...

OK now flip the board over and remove the sticky tape and it should look like this.

Turn your spiderchip upsidedown and push it onto the pinheader. Push the wire down one of the spare LPC holes. Ok now we need to solder the end of the wire to the D0 point. Follow the pic that matches your motherboard.

XBOX V1.6
This completes the install for V1.0 to V1.5 xboxes.
IF YOU HAVE A V1.6 XBOX:
You will need to rebuild the LPC. This is an extra 5 wires which are needed on the back of the motherboard for any chips to work. The wires must be kept as short as possible and the points are very small. The easiest way to do these is to add a small amount of solder flux using a toothpick to the points and then touch the solder point for 1 or 2 seconds with your clean and tinned iron. Normally you never bring solder on the iron to any joint but it's the easiest way for these points for noobs. Do not use a LPC REBUILD board as they are easy to install but hard to tell if the connections are solid later on and if a problem occurs after install the rebuild boards are near impossible for noobs to remove so i say stick to using wires. Solder the wires as shown in this pic.

Here is an example of what your wires should like like.

Troubleshooting your Spiderchip install
The Spiderchip has a blue led which should turn on when you turn on your xbox. If you have plugged in the on/off switch make sure it's turned on.
If your spiderchip doesn't do anything and your xbox boots up to the MicroSoft dashboard like normal then your D0 connection is bad and not making a good connection.
SPIDERCHIP 1.0 users check your D wire
SPIDERCHIP 1.1 users check your E wire
If your Spiderchip FRAGS (Flashes Red And Green) then your D0 connection is good and thats why the normal MicroSoft bios is not booting and it is trying to boot from the Spiderchip but the Spiderchip is not working. Double check all your solder points.
If you have a xbox Version 1.6b ( 1.6b version has hynix ram chips instead of samsung ) and your eject light is staying RED then you have installed the chip correctly but the spiderchip BIOS does not work on your xbox version. You will have to use a mates xbox which has a headerpin soldered to their motherboard to flash your spiderchip with Evox M8 Plus V1.6 and then put it back in your xbox. Follow my Hotswap to Flash Guide.
